Protect Cannock Chase

Staffordshire Police, Forestry England and Staffordshire County Council Rangers are urging visitors to respect Cannock Chase Forest by avoiding the creation of unofficial trails, which can cause serious environmental damage and pose safety risks.

  • Stick to official trails like Follow the Dog and The Monkey Trail, which are purpose-built and maintained for safe, sustainable riding.
  • Avoid ecologically sensitive areas: Much of Cannock Chase is protected land, and rogue trail-building can harm rare habitats and wildlife.
  • Unapproved trails are illegal and could lead to enforcement action. Police and land managers are monitoring activity and may issue fines or take further steps to prevent damage.
  • Volunteer responsibly: If you're passionate about trail-building, groups like Chase Trails work with Forestry England to maintain legal routes. Join them instead of damaging other areas of the Chase.
  • 🌲 Cannock Chase is a national treasure—let’s keep it that way. Ride smart, stay legal, and protect the forest for future generations.

    Kindest Regards PCSO 8848 Nicholls.
